[ Character's Name ] : Libertà
[ Character's Age ] : 18
[ Series ] : Arcana Famiglia
[ Canon Point ] : after Mondo’s birthday party
[ History ] :
Libertà’s father was Mondo’s first wife’s son. It isn’t known when exactly Libertà was born, as his father left Regalo long before the boy was born. Little is known about Libertà’s early life, other than ever since he was born he was the contractor of The Fool’s Arcana. At some point little Libertà was held captive in Casa Bianca, where kidnappers were trying to draw out power of his Arcana. The child couldn’t take abuse any longer and shouted that he wishes everyone would just burn.
And so, thanks to his Arcana power, everything was burned to the ground.
A member of Arcana Famiglia – Dante who was heading to the place after he heard about children being kidnapped found Libertà crying in the midst of flames. Libertà’s power went out of control and so Dante decided to use his own Arcana powers to erase painful memories from the boy’s memory. He took the unconscious boy to Regalo and from that point on he looked after Libertà. The boy’s power was too dangerous for him to wield, so Dante asked Mondo to seal Libertà’s powers until the time when the boy grows stronger mentally. Considering that Libertà was always reckless and impulsive, Dante was well aware that it’d take a long time for the boy to grow up and start thinking about consequences of his own actions.
Even though the memory was erased, Libertà still had a very foggy memory of being saved by a masked man (Dante was wearing a mask when he saved him) as well as a feeling that he was forgetting about something.
As a member of Arcana Famiglia he became a soldier of Intelligence Division. He worked mainly at the port. It is also mentioned that he visited the house where the main character – Felicità lived together with Luca and Sumire. He visited her only once or twice during the year, tough.
As Felicità finally became the member of Arcana Famiglia, on the birthday party of Felictità’s father – the head of Arcana Famiglia - Mondo announced the Arcana Duello, that was supposed to help him choose the new head of the family. He also announced that he will grant whatever wish the winner might have, as well as that Felicità would have to marry whoever wins the duel and would never be able to leave the residence ever again afterwards. That was something that angered both Libertà and Felicità. The girl attacked her own father, but was defeated. Libertà protested, but was stopped by Pace before he could do anything.
After the event, Libertà promised Felicità that if he won the Arcana Duello he would never force her into the marriage and instead he would wish to free her, so she could choose freely what she wants to do with her life.
[ Personality ] :
Though Arcana Famiglia is actually a shoujo series, Libertà has all traits of your stereotypical shounen hero. He’s idealistic, kind-hearted, isn’t exactly the sharpest, but tries to always stay optimistic and never give up. He also has a will to overcome everything with his own strength.
Probably as expected of someone who has the power of the Fool Arcana, Libertà isn’t too smart and he himself even admits on multiply occasions that thinking isn’t his forte. Whenever he is trying to think of something really complicated his head starts to literally hurt. Because of that, Libertà usually saya that it’s better not to think too much and instead of that it’s better to act. As you probably imagine, Libertà is a lost case of a person who always acts without thinking. It doesn’t help at all that he himself doesn’t see this as something bad – that is, for as long as nobody gets hurt because of him. In every other case, Libertà will be claiming that since everyone is safe/everything turned out okay in the end there is nothing to worry aboutso why is everyone getting angry at him. The fact that he is pretty much a simplistic idiot shows well in the event where Felicità has to choose a way to deliver a package. While Nova gives her a complicated route to the place, Libertà states that it would be quicker if they jumped from one roof to another until they get to the right place. The simplest ways are always the best, after all.
Libertà is an idealistic optimist. Whatever would happened he is always trying to get stronger and saying that even if he has worries, he prefers not to think too much about them. Further in game we can see him actually worrying a lot about his past, but this is not important for the point I’m taking Libertà from. Up until the point in which his past is reveled, Libertà doesn’t have much worries. He generally seems like he isn’t too serious about anything, not even about his job. Everyone always scolds him for acting like he always has too much of a free time. He also gets frequently scolded for his impulsiveness and ignoring orders.
Despite all of that, Libertà is truly a good kid with big heart. He often says he wishes to become like a masked hero, that helped him out when he was little. He wants to help others and doesn’t want anything in return. On the other hand, he is sometimes seen telling stories to children about his own heroic deeds... most of them aren’t even true, but is it really that important?
Another thing is that Libertà is looking up to Dante, wishing he would be like him. Dante is Libertà’s father figure and he admires the older man a lot. It may be a funny fact, but ever since he was saved by a masked hero, Libertà began collecting all kinds of masks and whenever he finds any “cool” ones he always shows them to Dante. It is also because of Dante, that Libertà loves the sea so much. When the boy was little, Dante would always tell him stories about the sea aboard the ship.
Libertà’s curious nature makes him very interested in everything that’s new. He wishes to travel to other countries and see as much as he can or even discover a new island. He has a heart of an adventurer and explorer – and it’s just another reason why he loves the sea so much. Traveling aboard the ship gives him a sense of freedom. It makes him feel like he can travel anywhere he wants.
Because freedom is so important to Libertà himself, it was the main reason why he was so angered by Mondo’s announcement. On the other hand, it is pretty easy to irritate Libertà. He can’t seem to calmly take being teased and he’s quick to react if someone insults him. He’s usually pretty loud and seems to not mind solving things with violence.
He isn’t an always angry looking guy, though. No, Libertà is usually cheerful and friendly. He gets along pretty good with almost all members of the family and cares about them. The only person he doesn’t usually get along with is Nova. Libertà claims that it’s not like he dislikes Nova, but the younger boy’s harsh and cold attitude always annoy him. He seems to like teasing Nova since the other boy is pretty short. In one event of the game if the player chooses the answer “the two of you get along pretty well.” it will earn her a pretty shocked look from both boys. In answer to this Dante will state that he also thinks so, which will only shock the two even more.
Libertà isn’t aware that his power was partially sealed. He can still use it, but not too well and whenever he uses too much of it he loses consciousness. Because of that, he decided not to use his Arcana at all and live only relying on his own strength and his sword. “People don’t normally have Arcana powers, right?” he says as an argument for his decision. Libertà is pretty strong, but he still has a long way to go. His recklessness always gets him into trouble and his inability to admit he was wrong makes it even more difficult to learn from his own mistakes. He also can’t stand getting lectured.

[When Libertà opens his eyes he can’t help but stare for a while at the unfamiliar scenery, before he jumps to his feat, looking around.]
What the--?! This isn’t Regalo... Just where am I?!
[At that point he also realizes he is soaking wet. He stares even more confused.]
...What? Why... Did I fall into water? But how? There was the birthday party... I talked to Princess... then...
[He tries to think about it for a moment, but after nothing comes into his mind, he just clutches his head and grits his teeth angrily.]
Argh! I can’t remember!!
[Only then the blond haired boy looks up.]
Huh? Is that... the sea?...
[he stares for a moment looking at the water above him. He is clearly amazed by the sight.
And then he shakes his head.]
Wait, no! There’s no time for this now! I need to go back home! ...Or maybe all of this is just some kind of dream?
[After a moment, he nods to himself.]
Yeah, this definitely has to be a dream.
[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] : I’m taking him from the game version ! There might be some differences in the anime, but I suspect they won’t be too big.
